SP leader shot dead in Jaunpur

Jaunpur, Jan 7 (UNI) Unidentified assailants today shot dead ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amarnath Gupta in this district of Uttar Pradesh.

SP leader and businessman Amarnath Gupta (40) along with his aide Guddu Khan (35) were shot at near Murtazabad power house under Kekarat police station area, when they were on their way to Pesra area.

Irked over the incident, traders organised a 'bandh' today.

Police has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.

The reason behind the crime, however, was not ascertained so far.
