Rymbai CM condemns ULFA attacks
Shillong, Jan 7 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister J D Rymbai today condemned the ULFA attacks on innocent lives in Asom.
Terming the ULFA attacks as 'barbaric act', Mr Rymbai said the ULFA should come forward to the negotiating table rather than indulge in criminal activities.
''We also share our concern with people of Asom and the people should stand united and raise their voices in one against such activities,'' Mr Rymbai told UNI here before leaving for New Delhi.
At least, thirty-six people, mostly migrants from Bihar, and seven poll personnel, were killed by ULFA and Karbi Longri National Liberation Front militants yesterday, raising the death toll since Friday night to 56.
Former Lok Sabha Speaker and NCP leader Purno A Sangma too condemned the ULFA killings.
He said such attacks were detrimental to the entire region.
Urging the Centre and the ULFA to sit across the table, Mr Sangma said he would take up the matter with the authorities concernet at New Delhi.
