PM releases four publications for NRIs

New Delhi, Jan 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today released a compendium of four publications, brought out by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (OAS), dealing with a plethora of issues, including investment opportunities in India, for the benefit of non-resident Indians.

The publications were released by Dr Singh during the three-day 5th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, which began here today.

'Compendium on Policies, Incentives and Investment Opportunities for Overseas Indians' provides in a single volume all the relevant information on the investment policies, incentives and opportunities for the benefit of the potential overseas Indian investors.

This Compendium contains the latest information and has been updated till November 2006 by bringing important but otherwise scattered information from the latest press notes, RBI master circlulars, Economnic Survey and FDI Manual.

'Handbook for Overseas Indians' deals wqith policy relating FDI/NRI investment in India, entry options for investors, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), remittance facilities for NRIs/PIOs.

The other important issues, which have been comprehensively dealth with in the Handbook, include PIO Card, Baggage and Visa Rules, important schemes of the ministry and list of important web sites.

The third publication -- 'Meeting India's Development Challenges: Theme Paper' -- deals with various thematic issues like India: The Challenges of Development in the Global Context, Leveraging technology for Development and Planning for Development: How to include the Indian Diaspora.

Further, there are details about various states and their diasporic connections.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also released the first anniversary issue of 'Pravasi Bharatiya: Connecting India with its Diaspora'', the magazine of the ministry.
