Maoists blast 2 coffee units; bags with explosives recovered

Visakhapatnam, Jan 7 (UNI) Maoists blasted two coffee pulpering units in Pedhavalasa village, while police recovered bags with explosive materials in the Koyyour police station limits in the agency area here today.

In Pedhavalasa village, the Maoists conducted raids and blasted two coffee units and looted 350 bags of seedgrains.

About the other incident, District Superintendent of Police J G Murali confirmed that the police recovered the bags which included materials used for preparing land mines, claymore mines, electrical wire bundles and a medical kit.

The banned CPI-Maoists would observe a statewide bandh on Wednesday protesting against the encounter involving top Maoist couple V Chandramouli and Karunakka in the agency area of Chintapalli madal.

Andhra-Orissa border AOB Secretary Bhaskar alleged that the police had arrested the top Maoist couple and harassed them before killing them.

A press release stated that later, their bodies were brought to the agency area of GK Veedhi mandal here.

However, police claimed that it was an encounter.
