Left Front should adopt holistic policy for industry: Priya
Kolkata, Jan 7 (UNI) Alleging that wrong policy for land acquisition was responsible for yesterday's violence at Nandigram, Union Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi today urged the Left Front government to take a holistic policy before taking over land for industries.
''The Nandigram violence is the result of administrative callousness. The violence proves that people's anger is on the rise because of the government's wrong policies,'' he said addressing a press conference.
Mr Dasmunsi said after the standoff over Singur issue, the government should have been more ''alert, cautious and conscious'' and held discussions with all parties before taking any decision for land acquisition.
The government should take a holistic policy before going for land acquisition, he said.
The Minister alleged that the situation in Nandigram aggravated following ''provocative'' statements of certain Left leaders after yesterday's peace meeting.
He also criticised CPI(M) MP Lakshman Seth allegedly for putting up a notice on land acquisition in the area. In reply to a question, on tomorrow's statewide bandh called by both Congress and Trinamool Congress, Mr Dasmunsi said that people would give their verdict against the anti-people policy of the state government by observing a peaceful bandh.
