Mysore, Jan 7: Vishwa Hindu Parishad International General Secretary Praveenbhai Togadia today said Hindus should compulsorily vote in the elections to show their strength and unity.

Speaking at a one-day Viraat Hindu Samavesha organised to mark the birth centenary of former RSS leader M S Golwalkar here, he said people should exercise their franchise and think of parties later. ''It was necessary for Hindus to unite among themselves to fight against terrorism which is rising its ugly head in the cuntry.'' Stating that terrorism had been spreading to southern parts of the country, Mr Togadia urged the Union government to see that the terrorists do not establish their base in the country. Hindus should stand united and retaliate for the attacks on them anywhere in the world.

Coming down strongly on the UPA government, he said the UPA policies and stand on terrorists was only aimed at appeasing a section of the society.

Mr Togadia criticised the Centre for not executing Mohamed Afzal Guru, involved in Parliament attack. He questioned the Prime Minister whether he and Congress President Sonia Gandhi would have been alive today if the attackers were not stopped by the Hindu soldiers.

He called for closing down the Madrasass which allegedly indulged in training terrorists and lock up the religious leaders who preach hatred towards Hindus.

Heads of various Mutts, including Sri Shivarathri Deshekendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt also participated in the event.
