First round of Pulse Polio campaign over in HP
Shimla, Jan 7 (UNI) Over 7.44 lakh children up to the age of five years were administered polio drops during the first phase of the campaign across Himachal Pradesh today, state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said.
He said 24,461 people employed in 5,855 stationary booths, 69 transit and 91 mobile booths administered pulse polio drops to 7,44,192 children in various parts of the state.
About 1,050 booths were established in Kangra district alone where 4,200 health workers administered pulse polio drops to the children below five years of age, he said after launching the first phase of campaign from Dharamshala Zonal Hospital early today.
Reiterating his government's resolve to eradicate the disease from the state, he said state health department workers would visit all labour colonies and every house to administer vaccine to every child.
Revenue Minister Sat Mahajan, Transport and Tourism Minister G S Bali and MP Chander Kumar were also present on the occasion.
