Bomb scare in Varanasi

Varanasi, Jan 7 (UNI) A bomb scare following the recovery of two iron devices from near a pond created panic in the Kandwa area here today.

Sub-inspector in charge of Chittaipur police outpost under Lanka police station Kumud Shekhar Singh said here that labourers working near the Karmadeshwar Mahadev pond in the Kandwa locality on the city's outskirts spotted a jar containing devices lying near the pond.

Apprehending explosive devices kept in the jar, the labourers reported the matter to the police which safely took the jar to the police outpost. The bomb detection and disposal squad posted in the 36th PAC Batallion was swiftly pressed into service.

The explosive experts after thorough check up found that the jar did not contain any explosive and the iron devices were only spare parts of a truck or a car, Singh added.
