Work on irrigation projects to be hastened:YSR
Visakhapatnam, Jan 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said work on five medium and three minor irrigation projects in the district will be speeded up.
Addressing the media here, Dr Reddy said he held detail discussions with the officials and reviewed the development works in the district and it was decided to speeden up the work on the projects.
This year it was targeted to disburse Rs 190 crore to self-help groups under the 25 paisa interest scheme.
He said women health volunteers had appointed in 11 mandals in the agency area for the benefit of the tribals living there. The government had also sanctioned two degree colleges in Chinthapalli and Aruku Mandals in the district.
In the district, total employment generation in the year was more than 5,000. Cent per cent scholarships was given to the SC/ST Children in the district, he said.
The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is on an expansion mode with an investment of Rs 8,600 crore while Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is doubling the capacity of Visakha Refinery and is also in process of establishing a greenfield petrochemical complex.
The NTPC Simhadri was adding another 1,000 MW to its plant at Paravada, he added.
