Western Railways win Cross Country championship

Kapurthala, Jan 6 (UNI) Western Railways won the 38th All India Railway Cross Country Championship at the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) campus here today.

Central Railways and South East Central Railways secured the second and third positions respectively.

Raghunathan of South Western Railways got the first position in the 12-km race clocking 35.55 minutes while B S Lone of Western Railways secured the second position clocking 36.26 minutes.

In the 8-km cross country (men), Central Railways bagged the first position. Western Railways got the second and South Western Railways secured the third position.

In the 8 km for women, Eastern Railways came in first, Western Railways stood second and Central Railways were third. Eastern Railways, Pompa Chanda won the race clocking 28.3 minutes.

In the 4 km women, Western Railways bagged the first position while Eastern Railways and Central Railways secured the second and third position respectively.

As many as 185 athletes including 67 women from different railway zones participated in the cross country runs.

Rail Coach Factory General Manager S K Suri gave away the prizes to the winners.
