UTI launches capital protection oriented schemes

Chennai, Jan 6 (UNI) UTI Mutual Fund today launched new UTI capital protection oriented schemes here.

Talking to newspersons, UTI president and country head Mohit Sachdev informed that the primary objective of the schemes was to protect the capital by investing in high quality fixed income securities.

"The orientation of the schemes is towards protection of capital which orginates from the portfolio structure of the scheme", he said and pointed out that the schemes' portfolio structure had been rated AAA (SO) by Crisil Limited." The schemes would follow a passive investment strategy for its fixed income component by investing in the highest rated debt securities.

"The equity component of the scheme will mainly focus those companies that have potential to appreciate in the medium to long term", he underlined adding "the scheme consists of two plans such as three year plan with the duration of three years from the date of allotment and five years plan with duration of five eyars from the date of allotment".

"The face value of the units will be Rs 10 and redemption will be done on maturity date at the net asset value of the date of maturity," he added.
