Two bomb blasts during polling in Karbi Anglong
Diphu, Jan 06 (UNI) Two powerful bomb exploded at different places of Karbi Anglong district which went to District Autonomous Council poll today to decide the fate of 25 candidates.
In one explosion a CRPF patrolling party had a close escape when the missile missed the target at Donghalf this evening.
In another incident two bombs were hurled on the crowd at Chowkihola constituency around 1400 hours today. While one bomb exploded, another failed. However, none was injured in the attack, source here said.
Both the explosion were carried out by the suspected Karbi Longpi N C Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF).
Barring these minor incidents, elections for the 25 member Karbi Anglong district autonomus council passed off peacefully.
The final poll percentage could not be provided by the authorities as they are yet to receive them from far flung hilly areas of the district.
Reports received from Hamreng, Bokajan and Diphu subdivisions suggest 75 per cent polling.
Over 5.54 lakh voters have sealed the fates of 170 candidates in the ballot boxes to elect its 25 members. However, election in one constituency was suspended following the death of one candidate.
