Return Guru Govind Singhs' 'kirpan' to community: Sikhs

Jaipur, Jan 6 (UNI) The Rashtriya Sikh Sangat has asked the Jaipur Royalty to return the 'kirpan' of Guru Govind Singh kept in the royal museum, to the community.

Addressing a press conference here today president of the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat Guru Charan Singh Gill said the kirpan in possession of the Royal family was presented to the 10th Guru Govind Singh in his honour by Sirmur Royalty (Himachal Pradesh).

He said the kirpan was sacred to the Sikhs and asked the royal family to hand it over to the Sikh Gurudwara Prabanthak Committee (SGPC).

Mr Gill said, ''the significance of Kirpan to the Sikhs can be gauged from the fact that the present Gurudwara Shastra Sthan at Transport Nagar here, is located at the place where the Kirpan of the Guru Govind Singh was placed for the public viewing during his visit to Jaipur''.
