Rajasthan declares 10,529 villages drought affected
Jaipur, Jan 6 (UNI) Rajasthan Government has declared 10,529 villages spread over 22 districts in the state drought-affected and announced relief work from January 22.
The decision was taken at a meeting of Disaster Management Authority held under the chairmanship of Chief Minsiter Vasundhara Raje yesterday.
The Government has decided to declare those villages which incurred a loss more than 50 per cent of kharif crop as drought hit and asked the respective district collectors to send their requisition for launching relief work.
According to Relief Minister Kirorilal Meena out of the 10,529 villages, 4707 villages have recored 50-74 per cent loss in crops while 75-100 per cent danage was recorded in 5822 villages.
About 136 lakh people and 142 lakh livestock spread over 65 lakh hectare of land have been decalred drought affected and the loss of agriculture crops has been estimated to be Rs 3990 crore.
