Prisoner, undertrial escape from court premises

Jaunpur, Jan 6 (UNI) A prisoner and an undertrial escaped from police custody in separate incidents here today.

Vijay Singh alias Vidhyarti was arrested recently for possessing 6 kg of ganja under the Line bazar police station area. Besides 14 cases are pending against the accused.

His case was being heard in the Fast Track Court (I) of Judge Pyush Verma. Vijay fled from the court premises while he was being taken for here case hearing.

The court has issued a non bailable warrant against the accused.

This is the second time when Vijay has escaped from police custody. Two years ago, he had escaped from a civil court premises.

In a separate incident, an undertrial Asfaq -- a resident of Kotwali area, charged with loot and criminal acts, escaped from a civil court.

Meanwhile, two constables have been suspended for negligence of duty.
