President leaves TN for Delhi

Chennai, Jan 5: President A P J Abdul Kalam, who arrived last night on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu, left for New Delhi tonight by an Indian Air Force (IAF) special aircraft.

Dr Kalam was seen off at the airport, by Governor S S Barnala, Tamil Nadu Ministers Arcot N Veerasamy, K Ponmudi, Thangam Thennarasu and top civil and police officials among others.

After an overnight stay at Tiruchirapalli, Dr Kalam inaugurated the Children's Science at the Indian Science Congress being held in Chidambaram this morning.

The President after inaugurating a conference in Kalasingam University and laying the foundation stone for Dr G Venkataswamy Eye Research Institute in Madurai, flew down here and delivered the valedictory address at the 150th year celebrations of the Chennai police.
