President condemns ULFA attacks in Asom

New Delhi, Jan 6 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today condemned the ''inhuman attacks'' on innocent civilians in Asom which have claimed 48 lives in the state.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shivraj Patil have also condemned the nine attacks by the banned militant organisation ULFA spread over Tinsukia, Dibrugarh and Dhemaji districts.

While one attack occurred in Dhemaji and two in Dibrugarh districts, the rest were reported from Tinsukia district. Highest casualties were reported from Tinsukia at 34. Eight casualties were reported from Dibrugarh and six from Dhemaji.

Another 20 people were wounded, four of whom were presently in the Intensive care unit in Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh.
