Police foils grenade attack, arrest militant

Srinagar, Jan 6 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police today averted a major tragedy, when they arrested a militant before he could hurl a hand grenade at a crowded place in south Kashmir.

They arrested Reyaz Ahmad Bhat before he could throw a hand grenade at Pulwama in south Kashmir this afternoon, a police spokesman said.

The militant is being questioned, he said, adding the arrest came barely hours after a grenade blast at Shopian, in which two civilians were killed and several others were injured.
