PDP leader among 4 killed, 26 injured
Srinagar, Jan 6 (UNI) A constable of Jammu and Kashmir police and a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader were among four persons killed and 26 others, including four security personnel, wounded in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
Police today averted a major tragedy when they arrested a militant Reyaz Ahmad before he could hurl a hand grenade near crowded place at Pulwama.
Sources said militants hurled a hand grenade towards a patrol party of 44 Rashitriya Rifles (RR) at Gole Chakri, Shopian, about 50 km from here in south Kashmir this afternoon. However, it missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside causing injuries to at least 26 persons, including four security personnel.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals, they said.
Two of the injured Mohammad Yousuf and Mohammad Akram shah later died on the way to hospital.
