Over 2,500 tortoises recovered, 5 held

Etawah, Jan 6 (UNI) Five miscreants were arrested with the seizure of over 2,500 tortoises in this district of Uttar Pradesh.

Police today said acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted under Jasvantnagar police station area and 33 gunny bags containing over 2,500 tortoises were recovered last night.

On interrogation, the five arrested confessed that they were taking the consignment to Kolkata.

Meanwhile, forest department officials had been informed.
