1 killed, 5 seriously injured in cracker explosion

Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu), Jan 6: A 26-year-old woman was killed on the spot and five other women seriously injured in an explosion at a cracker manufacturing unit in Poolaurani Village near here.

Police said yesterday, the deceased was identified as V Eswari.

The mishap occurred when they were engaged in packing the crackers.

The injured were admitted to Government Hospital at Rajapalayam, where the condition of two was stated to be critical, police added.
