One arrested for cultivating opium

Kishnagore, Jan 06 (UNI) A man was arrested for illegaly cultivating opium in his field at Dhubulia Bathtala here today.

Police conducted a raid following a tip-off and arrested Rafiq-Ul Mallick.

About 70-80 opium saplings were recovered from him, police added.

Mallick had been using his land adjacent to NH 34 for cultivating cannabis, sources said.

A case had been registered and investigations are on, police officials said.
