More outright wins to determine which team advances if points same

Mumbai, Jan 6 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today clarified that if two teams ended the Ranjit Trophy league on the same points then the team with most outright wins would gain entry into the Super League semifinals.

Chief Administrative Officer of the BCCI Prof Ratnakar Shetty in a release here today stated that in the event of two teams having the same number of points and outright wins, a new procedure would be followed to determine which team goes into the semifinals.

First of all the total number or runs scored by a team will be divided by the total number of wickets lost by it. If this is also the same then the total number of runs scored against the team will be divided by the total number of wickets taken by it and the team which has a better average would advance.

If this also fails to solve the deadlock then the average of total number or runs scored by a team divided by the total number of wickets lost by it will be divided by the average of total number of runs scored against the team divided by the total number of wickets taken by it and the team having the higher percentage shall be considered to have the better percentage and thus advance into the semifinals.

For the purpose of the calculations and for individual averages, a team declaring the innings closed shall be deemed to have lost only the number of wickets which have actually fallen, the release added.
