Mercury dips to 2 degree Celsius in Simlipal for second day
Baripada, Jan 6 (UNI) The Simlipal Tiger Reserve(STR) and the National Park continued to shiver for the second consecutive day today with the mercury dipping to two degrees Celsius at Chahala.
STR Field Director Debabrata Swain said yesterday and today were the coldest days of the season for Simlipal.
The mercury also plummeted to five degrees in each of the three other important places like Nawana, Upper-Barhakamuda (UBK), and Jenabil, the Field Director said.
All the four places- Chahala, Nawana, UBK and Jenabil were covered with frost,the sources said.
Jashipur town, the gateway to Simlipal was also in the grip of a severe chill with the mercury recording eleven degree Celsius, while the temperature at Baripada, the district headquarters town dipped to ten degree Celsius, sources said.
