Man confesses to murdering 3 youths

Cuddalore, Jan 6 (UNI) A history sheeter today confessed to police that he had murdered three youths, who were missing for the past five months, and buried the bodies in a pit in his farmland.

The murder came to light when police took into custody Vimalraj, the history-sheeter, in connection with a robbery case earlier in the day.

During the course of interrogation, he confessed to murdering the three youths and burying their bodies at a pit in Anakampattu village.

Police identified the youths as Anandan (27), Tamizharasan (22) and Thirugnanam (28). They were reported missing since August 2006.

Tension prevailed when the relatives of the youths, joined by local people, staged a 'road roko' agitation, demanding that the police dig out the bodies immediately.

Police arrested Vimalraj, his accomplice Manigandan and were on the look out for two more persons. The accused murdered the youths, suspecting them to be police informants, police added.

Police said they had made arrangement to dig out the bodies tomorrow and had provided tight security at the farmlands. Makeshift flood lights have been put up there, the police added.
