Lalu advises Pawar to utilise experience for agro-development
Aurangabad, Jan 6 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today advised Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar to direct his expertise more towards improving the agro-sector in the country than vying for the post of International Cricket Committee (ICC) president.
''I think Mr Pawar should take more interest in the development of agriculture in the country,'' the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief said in reply to a specific query in this regard at the Silver Jubilee celebrations function of the Lokmat Group here.
The Railway Minister advised his cabinet colleague, known for his vast experience in the field of agriculture, to use his expertise for the growth of agriculture sector in the country.
The RJD leader said his first priority will be to establish more rail-links between India and Pakistan for establishing peace between the two Asian neighbours, if he was asked to initiate steps to improve relations between the two countries.
When asked what role he would like to play on getting an opportunity to act in a movie, Lalu said he does not want to render the Bollywood stars ''jobless'' as he was satisfied in his present role in politics.
The Railway Minister arrived here by a special train from Kopargaon. He was taken to the venue by a procession.
Referring to changing media scenario in the country in the aftermath of globalisation, Mr Yadav expressed his displeasure over the growing trend of ''trial by media'' against people facing controversies even before a court judgement or investigations into the case.
The RJD supremo said he himself had gone through such an experience when he was chargesheeted in the Rs 900 crore fodder scam.
