Jaiswal to visit Asom to assess after ULFA attacks
New Delhi, Jan 6: The Centre today reviewed the security situationin Asom with Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal planning avisit to the state tomorrow for an on the spot assessment of thesituation arising out of a fresh spate of violence by ULFA last nightin which as many as 31 people were killed.
The Home Ministry has condemned the serial attacks by the bannedoutfit in Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts of Upper Asom targetingmigrant workers in the state.
Mr Jaiswal would visit the state tomorrow to review the situationfollowing the attacks by ULFA in violation of the ceasefire agreementwith the government.
The Home Ministry officials are in constant touch with the stategovernment and has offered all possible help and support to curb theviolence in the state, ministry sources said.
Thirty-one people were killed in attacks by the militant outfit in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts overnight.
The bout of violence came barely a day after Home Secretary V KDuggal reviewed the security situation in the northeastern state inview of the 33rd National Games in Guwahati from February 9.
