Insurance scheme for cattle to be launched in K'taka
Dharwad, Karnataka, Jan 6 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will introduce an insurance scheme for cattle this month, State Animal Husbandry Minister Revu Nayak said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the scheme would be introduced in Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Kolar and Mandya districts on an experimental basis. Insurance companies would make a payment ranging between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000 if a milch cattle died and the beneficiaries have to pay 50 per cent of the premium.
It was proposed to provide insurance cover to 10,200 animals this year and the Centre had released Rs 1.43 crore for the purpose, he added.
