Goods train's engine failure holds up traffic for three hours
Phagwara, Jan 6 (UNI) Up line rail traffic on Ludhiana-Jalandhar section remained suspended for about three hours today as the engine of a goods train failed near Phillaur railway station affecting the schedule of Amritsar-bound Shatabdi Express, Railway sources said.
It was only after a new engine was brought from Ludhiana that the goods train could proceed towards its destination, clearing the way for other trains, they said. The normal traffic could be restored only after about three hours.
Meanwhile, passengers of Amritsar-bound Shatabadi Express were left stranded between Ladhuwal and Phillaur railway stations while their relatives kept waiting for their arrival at Phagwara, Jalandhar, Beas and Amritsar railway stations.
