Formulate policy to eradicate poverty among Muslim women
Perambalur, Jan 6 (UNI) The fourth state Muslim Women Conference here, organised by Tamil Nadu Muslim Women Jamat Committee, today demanded that both Centre and state governments come out with a comprehensive policy to eradicate poverty among Muslim women.
Addressing media here, Conference Organising Committee Secretary D Sharifa said the government should formulate a financial policy to promote enterpreneurship among Muslim women.
She said a resolution, demanding the Centre and State governments to initiate extended reservation in the education sector and more scholarships to Muslim women, was also passed.
The meet urged government to consult Muslim women organisations before drawing up any new policies for their welfare.
Appreciating All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) for declaring dowry a sin, the conference urged the AIMPLB and Wakf Board to monitor each Jamaat and Mohalla committee action against those who demanded dowry, she said.
She said the conference in another resolution demanded the government to accord most backward class status to Muslims.
