Deshmukh urges estranged Congressmen to rejoin party

Sangli, Maharashtra, Jan 6 (UNI) Without naming NCP chief and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said that those who were now praising Congress President Sonia Gandhi should join the Congress.

The Congress party has a rich history but some politicians had separated from the party raising the issue of Mrs Gandhi's foreign origin. These politicians, who had now realised the good work is being carried out by Mrs Gandhi, should rejoin the Congress, Mr Deshmukh said while addressing a rally here to garner support for the Party in the forthcoming zilla parishad and panchayat samiti elections.

Mr Deshmukh, while remarking that it was a difficult job to run an alliance government, exhorted the party workers to ensure Congress' victory in the elections.
