Criminal killed in police encounter
Jamshedpur, Jan 6 (UNI) A hardcore criminal of Bihar was gunned down by the police in an encounter, while his associate sustained bullet injuries at Phoolpal village under Ghatshila police station in East Singhbhum district today.
Acting on a tip off a police team led by Ghatshila Deputy Superintendent of Police S P Barnawal chased Pradip Shaw, a wanted criminal of Bihar's Bakhtiarpur and Raghav Jha another criminal from Saharsa, who were on their way to loot a businessman in a motorbike.
The criminals tried to escape, but police fired at them and in retaliation the criminals fired towards the police team. Shaw was killed on the spot during exchange of fire, while Jha was injured and he was admitted to a local hospital, police said.
Police said several cases, including that of murder and looting, were pending against Shaw and he was a close aid of Ravi Chowrasia gang here.
