Blackberrys to strengthen its mkt presence in South

Bangalore, Jan 6: Blackberrys, a premium brand of contemporaryclothing for men, has chalked out aggressive expansion and marketingplans to strengthen its presence in South India by opening moreoutlets.

Briefing newspersons here, Company General Manager (Marketing andSales) Badal Chaudhry said South India was a big growing market and thecompany was keenly interested in expanding its retail presence.

The company would soon unveil its new premium collection ofexclusively designed luxury trousers that reflected class and style.

He said Blackberrys' net brand turnover for 2006-07 was Rs 120crore and grew above the industry average of 20 per cent per annum.

Mr Chaudhry said the company would spend Rs 25 crore to openexclusive brand outlets in various parts of the country during the nextone year. The company proposed to open outlets in places such asBangalore and Mysore and the total number was likely to cross 25 acrossthe country by March next. Another 50 outlets would be added beforeMarch 2008, including 15 in the South, he added.

He said the demand for high end apparel was growing rapidly at therate of 15 per cent to 20 per cent and the company would like to cashin on the opportunities. The existing production comprisedmanufacturing of nine lakh trousers and one lakh suits, he added.
