BEFI general conference from Jan 7

Hyderabad, Jan 6 (UNI) The Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) would organise its seventh general conference from January seven to 10 in the city, general secretary Santi Bardhan said today.

Addressing media here, Mr Bardhan said CPI (M) politbureau member Sitaram Yechury would inaugurate the four-day conference in which the BEFI would deliberate upon pension scheme to the bank employees and the "anti-bank employee policies" being adopted by the govenrment.

Alleging that the government was planning to bring down the holding in Public Sector Banking (PSBs) to 33 per cent, he said the bank employees unions should jointly resort to countrywide strikes to resist anti-employee measures.
