Bangalore Police seize more arms from arrested terrorist
Bangalore, Jan 6 (UNI) A team of City Crime Bureau officials today seized arms and ammunition, including one AK 56 rifle, from the house of Bilal Ahmed Kota, the suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist arrested here yesterday, at Ranipet in Hospet.
Briefing newspersons here, City Police Commissioner N Achyuta Rao said the arrested was produced before the first Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court and remanded to police custody for 14 days. Later, he was taken to Hospet, where upon his voluntary disclosure, police seized 200 rounds of ammunition, five hand grenades, two magazines of AK 56 and a charger for satellite phone.
Replying to queries, he said the interrogation of the suspected terrorist and interaction with the Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir Police revealed that his name was Bilal Ahmed Kota alias Imran Jalal alias Salim (34). He was a resident of Sadarbal in Hazratbal in Srinagar. His father Shamshuddin was a clerk in a private transport company and his brother Hilal Ammed was a driver in the Jammu and Kashmir Food and Civil Supplies Corporation.
Kota was arrested yesterday while in transit to Bangalore and a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including an AK 47, was recovered from him. Police claimed that the Bangalore airport, IT majors Infosys and Wipro were on his hit list as he carried a city map with these prominent places marked.
