ANU, Mumbai Varsity win first round

Vijayawada, Jan 6 (UNI) Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) and University of Mumbai emerged winners in the first round of the All India Inter-zonal Kabaddi Women's Tournament being played at the Acharya Nagarjuna University campus in Guntur today.

In the matches held in league phase, ANU outwitted Punjab University 42-23 in Pool 'A' while University of Mumbai trounced M D University 46-26 in Pool 'B'.

About 96 women players from eight university teams across the country are participating in the tourney.

Results: League Phase: First Round (Pool-A): Acharya Nagarjuna University bt Punjab University 42-23 Kurukshetra University bt Shivaji University 43-27.

(Pool-B): University of Mumbai bt M D University 46-26 Guru Nanak Dev University bt University of Pune 65-20.
