18 naxals surrender in AP

Khammam, Jan 6 (UNI) Eighteen naxals including five women surrendered before Superintendent of Police (SP) R K Meena here today.

Talking to mediaperson here, Mr Meena said the surrendered naxals were four CPI (Maoist) Dalam members, two Deputy Dalam Commanders of Janashakthi Party, eight Dalam members including three women of Praja Prathighatana Party and four Dalam members, including two women of Prathighatana party.

He said the naxals surrendered due to ill health and disillusionment with extremist ideology.

In another incident, police arrested two militants belonging to CPI (Maoist) from Bayyaram village here.

One rifle, one 8mm pistol and one 9mm pistol were recovered from the arrested Maoists.
