Three naxals surrender in Gadchiroli
Nagpur, Jan 5 (UNI) Three naxalites, including a woman, surrendered before the authorities in Gadchiroli district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra today.
They surrendered before District Collector Niranjankumar Sudhanshu and Superintendent of Police Shirish Jain.
According to the police, the three naxalites, whose names were given only as Chhaya (24), Mohan (22) and Ranu (25), worked with the Bhamragadh dalam for nearly six months, during which they took weapons training.
However, they were fed up because they had to walk for long distances, did not get meals on time and got no medical treatment on falling ill, the police said. Therefore, they returned home, where villagers convinced them to surrender, the police said.
The three would be rehabilitated according to the naxalite surrender policy of the state government, Mr Sudhanshu said.
Mr Jain said 126 naxalites had surrendered before the authorities in 2006.
