Three die after inhaling poisonous gas at Alang Shipyard

Alang, Gujarat, Jan 5 (UNI) At least three labourers died after inhaling poisonous gas at the Alang Ship-breaking Yard here today, police said.

The incident took place at 1530 hrs this afternoon at Plot No 19 of the yard when the labourers had gone inside the oil tank of an anchored Mongolian ship for colouring it.

Preliminary reports said the labourers -- Rangilal, Bhola Chauhan and Govind Raghuvir -- had become unconscious after inhaling the gas in the oil tank.

The body of Rangilal was lifted out by the fire brigade personnel and rushed to civil hospital here, where he was declared dead on admission.

Attempts were on to lift out the bodies of the remaining two labourers from the oil tank, police sources added.
