Tension after desecration of Ambedkar's statue
Varanasi, Jan 5 (UNI) The desecration of yet another statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar in Uttar Pradesh, this time in Mirzamuard area here has caused tension.
Police said Dr Ambedkar's statue was found desecrated in Khochwa (Bhedha) village yesterday.
On receiving the information, people started gathering near the spot following which the police immediately got the statue repaired.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons and investigations were underway to nail the culprits.
Police presence has also been stepped up to deal with any eventuality in the area.
The desecration of another Ambedkar's statue in Kanpur last year had resulted in large scale violence, especially in Maharashtra.
