Six people die of cold wave in Nepal
Kathmandu, Jan 5 (UNI) At least six people were killed due to a cold wave in Southern Nepal today putting the death toll to 31 in a week's time.
At least four people died in Rautahat district and two in Siraha district today, a local television said. The death toll reached 31 due to the continuing cold spell in the many districts of Terai region of Nepal in a week's time.
''Heavy fog and very cold weather has created difficulties for the people and the markets are almost deserted till late in the morning and from early evening'', Kantipur television said adding that most of the public and private schools in the districts have been closed.
Mostly children and aged ones are suffering badly from the freezing weather that has gripped the eastern Terai, compelling locals to live inside the house.
Cold wave takes the lives of people every year in Terai.
