Simlipal experiences coldest day

Baripada, Jan 5 (UNI) Mercury plummeted to two degrees Celsius in Chahala inside the Simlipal Tiger Reserve(STR) experiencing the coldest day of the season today.

STR sources said here that temperature in each of the three other important tourists' centres inside the hill forests, namely Upper-Barha-Kamuda (UBK),Nawana and Jenabil, was registered at five degrees Celsius and experienced shivering chill.

Early this morning, vegetation in all these areas, including Chahala, were seen covered with frost, sources said.

The district headquarters town, Baripada, was also gripped with shivering chill with the mercury recording 10 degrees Celsius.
