Select metal prices decline on poor demand

Mumbai, Jan 5 (UNI) Select metal prices declined on poor demand even as the London Metal Market remained steady today, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange informed.

In the ferrous section, copper heavy and copper utensils eased by Rs 500 and Rs 100 per quintal respectively on sustained heavy selling pressure.

In the non-ferrous section, zinc slab and lead ingots fell by Rs 100 and Rs 200 per quintal respectively on increased offers from stockists.

Tin slab fell by Rs five per kg on thin buying support, while nickel cathode rose by Rs 40 per kg owing to low stock supply.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 30,500, copper utensils - Rs 28,900, brass utensils - Rs 22,600, brass cuttings - Rs 25,500 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,100.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 33,500, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,500, zinc slab - Rs 22,400, lead ingots - Rs 7,500, tin slab - Rs 605 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 1,760 (per kg).
