Saroja Devi, Shivarudrappa, Ruth Manorama to get doctorates

Bangalore, Jan 5 (UNI) 'Rashtrakavi' G S Shivarudrappa, noted actress B Saroja Devi and social worker Ruth Manorama would be conferred with honorary doctorates by the Bangalore University for achieving excellence in their chosen fields, its Vice-Chancellor H A Ranganath said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said that besides the trio, at least 38,360 students would receive degrees at the 42nd annual convocation ceremony to be held here tomorrow.

Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi would preside over the convocation and legal luminary F S Nariman would deliver the convocation address, he said.

The Vice-Chancellor released a calendar, brought out by the Centre for Gandhian Studies.

Centre Director D Jeevan Kumar said they planned to form a 'Youth Coalition Against Corruption' in collaboration with city-based Gandhians and NGOs.
