Sangh Parivar attempting to divide society: Poojary
Mangalore, Jan 5: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member B Janardhana Poojary today charged the Sangh Parivar and other Hindu organisations with trying to divide the society and fomenting communal hatred through 'Hindu Samajotsav', being organised in different parts of the country.
Talking to newspersons here, he said it was the backward classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minorities who were facing the real threat and not the Hindu society as claimed by the Sangh Parivar for organising 10,000 Hindu Samajotsavs across the country.
Prominent Hindu religious leaders like the seers of Sringeri, Suttur or Gowda Saraswat mutts have neither participated in any such Samajotsav, nor apprehended any threat to the Hindu society. It was only the creation of the BJP and the Sangh Parivar, he alleged.
Demanding that the Government arrest and take suitable action against those instigating and provoking the public in such meetings, he asked what JD(S) President H D Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy were doing when Hindu Samajotsavs were being organised in the State, creating law and order problem.
Mr Poojary criticised the Chief Minister that he had failed in his duty by not attending Bakrid prayers in Bangalore ''to please coalition partner BJP''.
Referring to the JD(S) Legislators' meeting in Pune, he ridiculed that it was a secret meeting to find ways and means to wriggle out of the corruption charges against the Chief Minister, coming up before the Supreme Court.
