RRBs observe one day token strike
Patna, Jan 5 (UNI) Banking services at all rural centres of the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) were paralysed in Bihar today following a nation-wide day long token strike by its employees.
All India Gramin Bank Employees Officers Associations General Secretary D N Trivedi said here that on the call of the joint forum of gramin bank forums, 7,000 officers and employees of 14,500 branches of 102 RRBs went on a day's token strike paralysing the normal functioning. Clearing was also affected, he added.
Mr Trivedi said the strike had been observed in favour of four point demands, including implementation of pension scheme 1993-94 operative in commercial banks, extension of parity in payment of all remaining allowances and other benefits, immediate appointment on compassionate ground and execution of a fair promotion policy.
Mr Trivedi threatened of an indefinite strike during the budget session of Parliament in case the demands of the agitating employees were not considered within two months.
