PTA test flown from ITR for second time during the week
Balasore, Jan 5 (UNI) The advanced version of the indigenously built digital Pilotless Target Aircraft (PTA), 'Lakshya', was successfully test flown today from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur-on-Sea for the second time during the last three days.
According to ITR sources, the Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) was test flown from the launch complex at 1136 hours. The PTA was earlier test flown from the ITR on January third last.
A developed engine version and improved engine and other sub systems developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Lakshya, had been used as an aerial reconnaissance of the battle field, including target acquisition.
'Lakshya', a sub sonic, reusable and aerial target system designed to impart training for both airborne and air defence pilots for weapon engagement, had already been inducted into the defence force, the sources said.
