Polio drive in AP Dist Jan 7

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 5 (UNI) All arrangements have been made to administer polio drops to 5.75 lakh children below the age of five in the East Godavari District on January seven as part of the nationwide programme, Health and Medical Officer D Jayaram today said.

Addressing presspersons here, Dr Jayaram said the district had not reported even a single case of polio since 1999 except for 2004 when one person was affected with polio.

Eight lakh doses of polio vaccines were being kept ready. As many as 3,361 polio booths would be set up of which 2,033 would be in rural areas and 621 in tribal areas.

As many as 101 mobile booths are being set up to meet the requirements. More than 12,000 people will be involved in the exercise, he said.
