Police constable trapped by ACB remanded to judicial custody
Mumbai, Jan 5 (UNI) Constable Mahendra More, attached to Crime Branch Unit-VIII, arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000 from a criminal at Andheri in North-west Mumbai, was remanded in judicial custody today till January 19.
More, who was produced before Additional ACB Judge P N Deshmukh after his one-day police remand was over, was granted judicial custody till January 19.
More has moved his bail plea before the ACB judge which will come up for a hearing on Monday.
According to the complaint, the constable allegedly demanded Rs one lakh from a person with a criminal background currently on bail in some cases.
More allegedly threatened him that he would book him in false cases and put him behind bars, if he failed to pay him Rs 1,00,000 in which he had already paid Rs 65,000 to him, while paying balance amount on Wednesday.
More was arrested by the ACB sleuths near his office at Andheri.
