NSTL director inaugurates Ripples 2007

Visakhapatnam, Jan 5 (UNI) Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) Director V Bhujanga Rao today said India was technologically lagging behind in the areas of automobiles and marine sectors.

Inaugurating a national symposium ''Ripples 2007'' organised by Andhra University, he said chemical engineering was one branch where technology could be developed indegeniously for use in several civil and defence areas.

The Memorandum of Understanding entered by Andhra University with the DRDO would help in taking up quality research, he hoped.

Reliance group of industries president M Ganapathi, in his address said biodiesel and bioethanol should be promoted in a big way to overcome the problem of depleting reserves of fossil fuels.

Andhra University Chemical Engineering Principal A Appa Rao wanted the industrial houses to come to the campus and train the students instead of the students going to the industry.
